Stephen Crampton-Hayward FRSA

Stephen Crampton-Hayward is our Interim Chief Executive Officer. With a degree in Finance & Economics, Stephen’s career has focused on charity administration and governance. Alongside his role with PiH, he offers strategic finance and governance consultancy to a variety of arts, education and social welfare charities, having stepped down as Director of Finance and Corporate Services for WorldSkills UK in September 2022. Prior to this he was Managing Director of the Whitechapel Gallery, having worked primarily in arts charities through his over 25 career, including the Serpentine Gallery, The Lyric Theatre Hammersmith and the Central School of Ballet.
Stephen was a Trustee of Paintings in Hospitals for 11 years, stepping down from the board on October 2024. Stephen currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the National AIDS and was Chair of Board of Trustees of Discover Story Centre in East London until December 2021.

Lucy Smith

Lucy is our Philanthropy Manager. Lucy helps to develop fundraising strategies to support the vital work of our charity. To ensure people in care and community environments across the UK can access art and benefit from wellbeing activities, Lucy raises voluntary income by building partnerships with funders, companies and individuals who share our passion. Before 2015, Lucy was a film and TV industry professional, working in both development and post-production. She has a BA (Hons) in Drama and English and is a Script Development graduate of the National Film and Television School. Daughter of professional artists, Lucy is a lifelong art and culture lover, who enjoys working with others to make art accessible to all.

Janet Bates

Janet is one of our Relationship & Development Managers. She helps to develop our strategic partnerships at a national level and to deliver funded projects at ground level. Janet is a practising artist and graduated in 2010 with a BA in Fine Art after working in publishing for over 20 years.

Dominic Harbour

Dominic is one of our Relationship & Development Managers. He helps to develop our strategic partnerships at a national level and to deliver funded projects at ground level. His career as a Curator and Arts Administrator includes partnerships with Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage and The Foreign Office, plus many museums, galleries and health organisations.

Rebecca Hamlin

Rebecca is our Collection Manager. She manages our art loan process, ensuring our artworks are kept safe whether they are being stored, transported, or are on display. Rebecca has worked in art sales and gallery management all over the world. She has an MA in Aesthetics (Philosophy of Art) as well as a BA (Hons) in History of Art, Architecture and Design.

Hannah Savage

Hannah is our Art Technician. She has a passion for supporting creative communities. With a background in fine arts and years of experience in museum, gallery and studio settings, she brings both technical expertise and an eye for detail to her role. Hannah is committed to ensuring that every art piece is looked after and looking its best when displayed. She has an MA in contemporary art and is a practicing artist herself.

Louis Small

Louis is our Administration Assistant. He assists everyone in the company with any administrative processes. Louis has worked in multiple art related roles and admin positions at nonprofits. Louis is passionate about art and helping communities.

Maddie Came

Maddie is our Volunteer Coordinator. She is responsible for recruiting, on-boarding and overseeing the volunteer opportunities we have within the charity. With an array of volunteer experiences and people-focused roles, Maddie makes sure our esteemed volunteers are in safe hands. She has a BSc in Psychology and Sociology and is currently studying an MSc in Environmental Psychology, researching the importance and impact of human-environment interactions.

Harvey Vasey

Harvey is our Community Projects Manager. He is responsible for overseeing the development, delivery and strategic alignment of our creative health projects portfolio. Harvey joins us from his own strategic consultancy following 13 years as a key adviser to Ministers at the Department for Culture Media and Sport, where he was responsible for an extensive list of policy areas, manifesto commitments and Downing Street priorities. He has led a local authority arts and heritage service and has overseen a host of cultural venues at executive, board and political level. Harvey has a wealth of experience in charitable and voluntary sectors and currently chairs a literary charity in the West Midlands.
