Illustrator, notably of children’s and educational books, landscape and portrait painter, and teacher, born in Leeds, Yorkshire. He studied at the College of Art there, then Edinburgh College of Art, then spent a year in continental Europe on a travelling scholarship. After National Service he taught at Keighley, Harrogate and Huddersfield Schools of Art. From 1960 he became a prolific illustrator of children’s titles, with several hundred to his credit. Stubley became a member of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers in 1976 and Association of Illustrators in 1979. In 1986 he was made an associate of RBA. Landscapes of Yorkshire’s hill towns, such as Holmfirth, where he lived, were favourite subjects. https://artuk.org/discover/artists/stubley-trevor-19322010
