Artwork Audit Volunteer – Croydon University Hospital
We are seeking a volunteer to visit our loan partner site at Croydon University Hospital to update our records on the condition, accuracy, and security of our artwork.
Key tasks:
- Ensure our artwork is in the correct location
- Highlight anything that is a cause for concern
- Document the condition of the artwork with our paper or online audit form
- Photograph the artwork in place, with additional images of any damage or areas needing attention (such as obstructing objects)
- Ensure our Paintings in Hospitals artwork description label is located next to each painting, and of the correct standard (pink PiH logo, clean holder)
- Represent Paintings in Hospitals with professionalism, while respecting the environment in which the artwork is displayed
This role requires a strong knowledge of art, so applicants with backgrounds in the arts, whether as artists or through formal education, are encouraged to apply. You will also need access to a smartphone or tablet that has a good quality camera.
Experience and Knowledge
- Use of artistic terminology to explain areas that need addressing (e.g. deterioration of paint)
- Photograph with awareness of lighting implications (e.g. glare from windows)
- Ability to assess the suitability of the environment the artwork is located in
Skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Identify problematic areas
- Proficient written communication skills
We are looking for a volunteer who can complete an audit of 15 artworks at our loan site, Croydon University Hospital. The volunteer must be located in the London region. Paintings in Hospitals will cover travel expenses of the volunteer’s journey to and from our loan site of up to £8.
