Main purpose of role:

Based remotely, Artist Research Volunteers help to research and record vital background information about the charity’s artist database, sourcing high quality information and recording it accurately and clearly on a shared file. They will also have read-only access to our artwork database (Salesforce) to view reference images.   

Key tasks:  

  • Collections Care 

  • To research, review, cite and document accurate historical, demographic, health and publicly available personal information about artists in the PiH collection. 

  • Record data accurately and clearly on the shared file for future reference noting references and source material. 

  • Seek out information from reliable sources including but not limited to; artist dates, alias, hometown, associated regions or places, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, religion, health concerns or conditions, and education. 

  • Use freely available online research tools and material, and legal means only. 

  • Maintain the charity’s discretion and act responsibly whilst undertaking research. All information recorded for the purpose of this project and all database content is to be treated as strictly confidential. 

  • Potential to work on the data entry process in future, following completion of the artist research project.

Hours can be discussed depending on availability of the volunteer. The role is ongoing, but if you wish to do a short burst of volunteering, please do let us know!
